Recently a lot of the comp players have been trying 5v5 path(light/fastest class in TA). 2 chasers 3 offense(usually a capper and 2 distracters). sound a little familiar? It's very LT style and fast paced. If you wanna try it out let me know they're pick ups with captains etc etc and right now the closest thing to TROC that I've seen.

Rage/Lightweight/Ego/Reach. Any mix n match of those. And yea sure why not. Since theres almost no chaining if they dont warp it won't be a big deal.

What are the chances of them banning something like Shotty and leaving only the disc launcher? Especially with the buff on the disc in the upcoming patch tonight? Heard some other groups tried out the 5 v 5 pth stuff with no LAR and it turned into a shotty fest.

^Isn't that a good thing? What I meant was, is there any testing for a banning of both the Shotty and the LAR so that the pth can only use his disc launcher in these 5 v 5's.

No cause capping would be sooo easy without a sniper or any sort of chasing. If they do base to base the chance of killing them is so low it would be a waste of time.

Which is why chasing still needs a good buff. IMO chasers should be able to hit max speed pretty easily and fast too, otherwise this is just boring. Boosts in T1 solved that problem, there was no gaining that extra huge speed via skiing

The problem with that is then cappers would have the same advantage...if a chaser should be able to get max speed from stand still what's to stop a capper from walking up to the stand and virtually doing what a chaser would do. It worked in REN LT because there were no routes and the maps were much smaller, not to mention instant respawn. It wasn't really capping, it was more like "moving standoffs" chasers would go to return while the people holding it would just rabbit between themselves. Chasers do need a buff and they fucked up capping hard. We'll see what they do about it. you can grab 320 in sld with over 900 health now which is just absurd. If anything they need to make a chasing CLASS seperate from capping. One that can catch up to cappers but can't cap themselves somehow. It's possible. There are a million solutions but no ones found the perfect one.

They should have instant respawn, but even with these "bigger maps" which I don't see as bigger maps anyway, it's perfectly fine as long as they fix the the routing concept of gaining a shit ton of momentum and speed from building up these routes. If it's a simple matter of Capper can reach 250 by "boosting" twice, and so can a chaser, then that's fine by me, because then that means I have more opportunities to take you down up close with a disc launcher in the air. I still don't see what the issue with that is. Map size doesn't matter, i think the game breaking part is this whole concept of setting up your speed through these routes. Remove that skiing function, and make it like t1 skiing and add in boosts and problem solved imo. Map size really doesn't matter. And 4 second respawn really isn't that big a problem either.

Unfortunately there are only about 6 people who will agree with that. I'd personally love it. You have to remember that what we played wasn't "real" Tribes. I'd love it or at least some modding capability but we're playing what's pretty much base of TA. Believe it or not, this is the fastest Tribes game to date. The only thing faster/as fast would have been mods like Anni and Ren. Boosts would still break the game though. Comp would consist of virtually 7 path finders or maybe 6pth 1sniper because how fast you would be able to move the flag. T1/T2 was all about routes I guess that's what they're going for. Boosts would make LT pretty much perfect though.
