even just looking at your hands while dreaming can do it

never heard the palm trick. i used to have crazy nightmares. just ghoulish terrible stuff i won't even mention. once i started lucid dreaming, i had maybe a few sex dreams but i always wake before finishing. at least got some good time in though.

the worst dream i believe i ever had, and i won't ever forget it, was waking up in a hospital and being told i was paralyzed neck down. and my family was there gathered around me as the doctor told me this. everything around me was totally white. and i kept trying to move parts of my body, and i couldn't. and i remember in the dream thinking how my life was over, how limited i would be, how everything i love to do and hoped to do as i got older was gone.

and then i remember waking up, except i thought it was still real, and i was crying and for about a minute i really could not move my body. it was seriously traumatizing, worse than all the dreams of being chased and butchered, or my family getting pretty much butchered, that i grew up with. with those they felt like dreams, but the paralyzed dream was the realest thing i ever felt. never had a dream like that before or since. and then i got into running, then weight training, triathlons, i do mountain running and climbing, some rock climbing, some more traditional sports, you name it. i can really say that i do not take mobility for granted.

damn..  that's crazy stuff.  i remember having a few dreams when i was younger about my brother getting killed in random ways in my dreams, and then it actually happened =/

also had a couple different recurring dreams..  i would be dreaming and this evil looking messed up face would be the only thing i could see, and it would start laughing maniacally and then i would wake up freaked out and unable to go back to sleep.  that happened for a couple months..  the other one sucked too.  the way my bed was arranged, there was a window at the foot of it, and for a couple months i would have this dream where these little creatures would come pouring into my room through the window, so i would get up and run but i could hardly move..  and then i would try to scream but no noise would come out.  i always hated that.  most of these dreams were back when my dad was being a d-bag to my mom so i was stressed a lot.  i eventually had a dream where i started kicking the creatures back out, then i woke up, and it was the last time i ever had it..

it's strange how sometimes i can't remember my dream even though i know i had one, yet i can remember some dreams from my childhood quite vividly like i just had them

i used to be big into astral projection but eventually stopped..  not enough sleep these days, and i just can't seem to relax enough to do it anymore.  it's very interesting stuff though.

has anyone ever had the dreams where you can like feel an evil presence or whatever. its weird. when i have those dreams i sometimes end up trying to run and no matter how far or how fast you go its always there. i usually end up freaking out when i wake up from those nightmares.

and i heard that like when you run and exercise you have less nightmares and feel better about yourself

yep..  active stuff like that will definitely improve your mood.  that's one of the main reason's i started working out..  being stronger is nice, but i mainly do it because it helps me relax and sleep better (although i still don't get enough sleep, but at least it's sound)

i had this one particularly bad dream while vacationing in this place in new hampshire, where like these people broke into my house and chased my family and myself and we went into a bathroom and yadda yadda they shot acid at us, at which point i woke up. i dreamed this on a wednesday.

the next two years i went back that place in new hampshire i had the same dream, each time on a wednesday.

random note. my first nightmare that i have memory of, it was a recurring one that i had for a very long time, actually involved a video game. it was this strange amalgam of that game in the early 90's with the ducks on t.v. that you could shoot with a gun you hooked up, like an arcade game. that, and sort of like a garbage truck, and my dad coming to kill me. it would take a while to properly explain, but it was trippy and made me not want to sleep.

i would imagine that's true about exercise. i do it because it makes me feel better physically and mentally, among many other reasons.

Haha I can relate so much to what you posted tension... reocurring dreams, shouting in nightmares and no sound comes out (sometimes it would, after I would wake up from it). Hell, I know I dreamt something around 5 hours ago, but can't remember it, at least not as well as something I dreamt when I was around 7. Weird huh.

And Mani mentioned paralysis.. you guys ever had sleep paralysis? Scary shit; you wake up, usually after a dream, you're fully conscious, but the rest of your body doesn't "know" that, so you can't move a damn muscle, and it takes a while 'till it goes away. Had it plenty of times as a kid, and along with really messed nightmares, it's what kept me awake and from wanting to sleep.

Though I've also had a fair share of lucid dreams. Didn't do anything special to get them, but they were awesome. Since then I've been trying to recreate some, but all the techniques aren't working. I've heard loads of dream-recognising techniques, like, if you look at a string of text, or look at the time, look back and it would have completely changed. Books have blank pages, and an interesting one, is that if you try to look at the bridge of your nose (kinda cross your eyes) you won't see it in a dream.

i had a wet dream last night and i blame this thread..  what a freaking weird ass dream.  it was one of those interconnected ones where you wake up for like a minute but don't move, so you go back to sleep and have the same dream but slightly different

i dreamed i was in some sort of military training program and every time we went to train on something, i didn't have the right gear (like for cold water training or w/e)..  there were lots of people with me but nobody i knew.  apparently i was from new zealand o_O  we were somewhere overseas in a coastal area with a bayou swamp type place.. and at one point i got separated because i was trying to find my gear but everyone else had theirs, so they all went out on a boat to practice with firearms and left me behind..  i was upset.

then i woke up and went back to sleep and was being pulled from the back of a truck on some kind of "water scooter" type device trying to find my gear.. but it worked on the road AND the water..  so i get pulled around for a bit and then everyone else returns, but it was all unorganized..  so i got on the boat and then all of the sudden i was wrapped in a blanket and she took off too fast and i fell in the water..

woke up and went back to sleep.  then i was on some sort of shooting range but i was right behind this chick with a nice ass, and i was video taping her, but she had these tiny shorts on and i was doing funny commentary about her while a couple other people were watching and laughing..  then after that, we had to get back in the water, but soon the day was over so we came back and they made us get into a big hot tub for some reason (they said that we had hypothermia from being out in the cold water and it was the only way to thaw us out, haha) and so this girl across from me was naked, but there were also a bunch of other people in the hot tub along with our leaders and such..  so she lunges at me and pulls my head down into her crotch, and i come back up for air and say wtf was that..  she said i had a bug on my shoulder and she was trying to get it off, so i said "with what.. your pussy?" and everyone in there started laughing..  then someone said to her "so you like those guys from new zealand huh?"..  weird.

and then she straddled me and i put it in (with all these people around, but once i started messing with her, they faded out) and woke up maybe 15 seconds later with messed up boxers..  lol.  i haven't had a wet dream in like 4 years.

I didn't read much after Si's palm trick post but I've had sex in my dream(s). Thing is, 80% of the time it's a chick I don't know... :Whaaa:

edit*

Just because it's a girl I don't know (right now) doesn't mean the sex wasn't good...

Probably TMI but I had a sex dream once and woke up with white juice splattered all over my sheet hahahaha. My wife woke up like WTF... I played it off like :inout:

mani that dream you had where you were paralyzed in bed still afterwards is pretty cool

the thing is, when you dream your brain basically paralyzes you so you don't flail around and do crazy things in your sleep. sometimes this effect can remain even after you wake for a short while and I can imagine it being pretty scary
