EDIT:PROBLEM SOLVED, but i can't delete the thread.

I'm totally stumped.

Basically, I open up tribes and there's these like, horizontal bars that seem to have a preference for the upper left hand corner that blink or flash or whatever. It's very strange and trippy. I get these first on the opening menu for tribes, and they worsen when I click options to get to the video settings. They continue once in game.

Some background. I reinstalled windows 7, but using the same build I used before, and the same exact config that had worked on it. I've also tested a stock version of tribes, same problem. I've also reinstalled my video drivers. Same problem. Changing resolution or the option under video for what opengl is set up for does nothing.

Oh, and I've tried restricting tribes affinity to one core. I have the vista fix that's in hudbot. I've tried substituting in the standalone fix. You name it.

Any ideas? :(

short answer: drivers.

i used two possibly different drivers in the past on this build of win7, both worked. the first came with my laptop. i tried those first, as they always worked, and tribes produced this problem. then i uninstalled them and let windows find and download the proper drivers for me, which also always worked with tribes in the past. that also did not work.

but seeing as there was no other possible reason i went off to nvidia and downloaded drivers directly from them, and voila.
