Discrete Probabilty Help

How many ways are there to choose three letters from the phrase,
MISS MISSISSIPPI NEVER EVER SIMPERS, ignoring the order of selection.
 
The answer is 111 but I have no idea how in fucking hell to get this answer...any ideas?

Im still lost with the problem...right now we are just doing counting so I dont think we have reached the actual "discrete" part of this course yet
