zed actually did this with his version of anni that he made, the mines would blow up after 2 minutes.

whatever code he had going on would have followed the same principles of the code that i have.  it most likely lagged that server slightly too.

the lag difference isn't discernible to people who rarely play in the server.  however if you're like me, and play in it way too much, you can definitely tell a difference.

Subtle lag can also be felt in the boosters of anni invo servers.  Try 5 boosting in the Anni 1.31 spawn server and then try 5 boosting in any Anni invo server.  Do this enough and you'll be feel the lag in the invo boosters.  It is subtle but can be felt.   This was one of the major issues in the Legendz server.  Anni 2.x+ code was used for the boosters there which resulted in booster lag

We just have to hire someone that will run around and shoot mines during matches.

Some version of anni used to have an admin option to blow up all mines. That might be useful, but actually I think it means a better idea might be possible...

Imp, would it be difficult to have all mines on the map be removed every few minutes? That way the event only fires once, every X minutes, rather than putting a timer on each individual mine.

Bad idea.  How will you explain to chasers that toss a mine only to have it disappear a second later?

Yes. I want it for no other reason than to help with potential lag issues.

We can try it again but I personally think that having the script causes more lag than it fixes.  The network lag issues are gone btw

Yeah I thought about that but wrote my stupid idea anyways. I'm glad Branzone's fix worked for us though.

I'm going to vote no because I want smooth gameplay above all else.

Anni mines aren't necessarily used as mines, just like Base beacons aren't used primarily as beacons. I don't think they should go off without taking damage and/or should disappear eventually. Laying mines and killing people is an action entirely unrelated to active player skill. Minediscing someone 300m in the air is a lot more skillful. The other problem is that mines are pretty much an infinite resource. Instant respawn, 3 more mines. As mines, they constitute static defense, so there really is no ill effects to spamming them on terrain either. Anni has a lot of issues with zero-skill player interactions even with minedisc, I don't understand why people think someone randomly running into a mine that was placed incidentally at any point and dying is well-designed in a mod based entirely on player-to-player interaction.

Sounds like deactivating them after a while is a good idea. Doesn't really matter to me since all I do is chase....oh, and I don't play anymore.
