this is definately worth getting guys. its inexpensive and it really does provide us with tribes 1 with new graphics. it does take a little getting used to. however once youve found your legs in this games its awesome. People must give it a go. I was iffy on it for the first few times i played. it just wasnt exactly what i knew, but after a scrim or two and fooling around and dueling people It's really good and should be given attention by this community.

I really hope that people do pick up ETQW and at least give it a shot. There is some merit to what I've done and I've put a lot of work in myself to get it to this current stage.
It's going to be a public release not too long from now. I'm going to be spending the next couple days updating some of the documentation and getting some web resources put up so people can get right into tinkering with what I've built.
Just so people are aware, there are going to be 3 main pieces to the release. A packaged build, uncompiled build, and the source code.
-The packaged build is basically the mod that's been compressed and made all tidy. Nothing too spectacular, and for the "basic user".
-The uncompiled build is the same mod files, they're playable online, but you can also go into the folder structure and look at the settings and all the scripts. The world files are also intact so you can get an idea of how the maps are built.
-Lastly the source code is essentially all of the gamecode. The ETQW game is split between code and script, but both are formatted like C++. Anyone who has a relatively basic understanding of C++ programming fundamentals can probably script something for the mod, and it opens up all sorts of possibilities and additional content down the line.

I'd be very interested to see if people make any sort of remakes for this project. It's quite simple to do, and 80% of making a map is pretty much getting the terrain working. Everything else is easy placement stuff.

well good, because, if we don't start playing it and enjoying it as it is now, no one will ever bother taking the time to improve it with beacons and different armors and weapons and stuff that we all will want. right now its just the basic base game but it has in game voice chat, fire teams, pretty cool graphics and levels... u guys wont like how the flag moves when it is tossed but that can be fixed. But i cant stress enough... everyone has always asked for T1 physics with better graphics.... THIS IS EXACTLY THAT. yes it needs improvements but my god... ive been hearing t1 physics w/ better graphics chants for years and years and now we have that. We just need some modders and programmer types to fix it up nice and pretty just the way we all like it.

Nope, not tomorrow but probably a couple days or so. I can't give the specifics on exactly when it will be released because there are people who need to do a couple things with the mod files in order to ensure a good release.
I also have to make sure that there's enough documentation and a decent way of explaining how everything works. During the beta, I got asked a lot of questions that could have been answered by a close look at the readme.
Additionally, there are some mod specific systems that we setup and I need to explain how some of that stuff works as well. If someone is working on a map for example, the finishing stages they'll probably run into some areas that have specific quirks to them, and you'll have to run around for answers unless I explain what's involved.
Probably the most important thing is running your own server, and I should really do a good job explaining how the server launcher works with the mod. There are many settings that can be changed that will allow people to set the cap limit, and even adjust the amount of energy that players have. That also needs to be explained since only a few people who have worked on this mod really understand how it all works.

It already is... sort of.
They've let me use their server to do most of the testing and tinkering with the mod. It's been pretty helpful as I've been able to discover a couple configuration bugs.
When the mod goes public, I'd have no problem reconfiguring the server for TROC. Just renaming it, setting admin passwords etc...
